2) Press the PREV CH RECALL button. Upon release of the PREV CH RECALL button the status indicator light will blink out the code for the selected device.

8. Will my Tek Partner work with TIVO?

While not designed specifically for use with TIVO and other DVRs, the latest models Big Button remotes indeed do include TIVO codes, and will operate TIVO equipment. Currently, our Tek Partner remotes do NOT support TIVO.

9. Do your remotes work on a dish satellite receiver?

Most likely it will operate your satellite receiver, however when looking for the appropriate code in the manual or online, for your particular remote, you will need to determine the brand of your satellite receiver hardware to look up the code. The code will not necessarily be listed by your type of service (DirecTV, DishNetwork, etc.), but by who manufactured the equipment (Hughes, Philips, etc.). Look on the back of the remote that came with your system or directly on the back of the receiver to determine the name of the manufacturer.

10. What is the difference between the tek partner and the tek partner plus. Where can I buy the plus model?

The Tek Partner Plus has codes for Satellite and Cable Boxes where as the early versions of the Tek Partner did not have those codes. All Tek Partners sold now are the "plus" edition, even if they don't have "Plus" next to the name.

The most popular retail establishment to buy the Tek Partner and Big Button remotes is Radio Shack. You can also order them through catalogs such as Hammacher Schlemmer, Johnson Smith, Dynamic Living, Maxi Aids and LS&S.

You can also buy them online through our online store by clicking here: Purchase Tek Partner Online.

2) Press and release the power button twice. The status indicator light will blink a confirmation (3 blinks). Master Power feature is now enabled.

3) Repeat the process to disable the Master Power feature.

NOTE: With Master Power enabled the remote will send the power on code for each of the devices SAT, CBL, TV and VCR in that order. All of the devices should be within the remote's operating range so they can receive their power code.

12. Do you have to press the ENTER button after you put the individual codes in to program?

No, it is not necessary to press the ENTER button when you are programming the codes individually.

13. I need a code for _________ device, and it's not listed. Can you send it to me?

All current active codes are listed. You may still do a Power Scan, and the Power scan MAY, or may not, enable your remote to work with the device in question. If not, you may drop us an email at info@hytekmfg.com and we will try to include that device in our next upgrades.

14. Do your remote controls have the sleep mode? Can I program the tv to shut off in 1 or 1 1/2 hours?

Our remotes are designed to work as many of the most commonly used functions on various devices as possible, however, there are many infrequently used options that are left out for technical and cost reasons, such as the sleep function for televisions.

15. Does the big button work on a dish satellite receiver?

Most likely it will operate your satellite receiver, however when looking for the appropriate code in the manual or online, for your particular remote, you will need to determine the brand of your satellite receiver hardware to look up the code. The code will not necessarily be listed by your type of service (DirecTV, DishNetwork, etc.), but by who manufactured the equipment.

16. We just recevied a Big Button remote and we do like the large buttons. However, we cant find any codes for DVD/VCR combination unit we have. Are there any codes to work with DVD/VCR combo units?

Unfortunately at this time, our Tek Partner and Big Button remotes do not work with the latest DVD/VCR combination units on the market.

18. I have recently purchased a Big Button remote to go with an INSIGNIA TV. I cannot locate the code to use even when I go through the POWER SEARCH mode. Can you provide the correct code for me to enable the remote?

At the present time there is not a code for the INSIGNIA brand TVs and TV/VCR/DVD combo units. Since thousands of new electronic devices are added every year, we do the best we can to keep up with all the new models and try to add the codes in our upcoming versions of the remotes.

19. Is there any way to get this to work with my stereo or CD player? Or, if not, is there a large button universal remote that can work with an receiver or CD player in addition to the TV and VCR?

As of right now, none of our remotes are programmed to work with audio components, and we don't anticipate adding that functionality in the near future.

20. Can either remote be used with TIVO?

The Big Button Remote (NOT the Tek Partner) has TIVO codes in it, and can technically operate a TIVO. However, since the design of the Big Button Remote is so different from the TIVO remote and its functions, it can be quite cumbersome learning which buttons operate which functions on the TIVO. Because of this, we don't recommend our Big Button remote if the main component you're going to use it for is the TIVO.

21. DOES THIS WORK WITH DIRECT TV SATALLITE

Yes, it does, but when you look up the code in the manual, under satellites, you'll need to find the code for the manufacturer of your DirecTV receiver, which may, or MAY NOT, be DirecTV. For instance, companies like Hughes, Philips, RCA, etc., make DirecTV receivers. You'll need the code for the manufacturer of the box, which you can find directly on the set top box or the back of the original remote control.

22. Where is the "MODE" button? I see it refered to in your instructions, but I don't see it on my remote.

There is no button specifically labeled "MODE". In the instructions, "MODE" refers to which device you want to program. If you wish to program your T.V., then "MODE" means hit the "T.V." button. If you are programming your VCR, hit the "VCR" button when the instructions say to hit the "MODE" button, etc.

23. I just bought a new TV and a new DVD player. How do I reset to factory default to wipe out my old codes and start entering my new codes?

If you program a new code for any device, it will override and replace the old code. However, if you wish to erase all the programming for the old codes and start fresh, you can remove the batteries for 2 hours, and the code will default to factory settings.

24. How do can I download and access your most recent user's manual for the Tek Partner Remotes?

Both of the most recent user's manuals can be found here:

http://www.bigbuttonremotes.com/support_manuals.asp?pageid=23

Our manuals are in PDF format. If you do not have Acrobat Reader on your computer (it would be highly unusual if it isn't already installed on your PC), you may download and install it here:

25. I have purchased a BIG BUTTON but I do not have the code for my satellite carrier I need the code for DISH NETWORK. PLEASE e-mail a code.

You can try using the codes listed for Echostar Satellite. Dish Network makes the Echostar receiver.

26. Do you have a code for the new Vizio LCD TVs?

Yes, but only our newest models do. Any remote purchased online after November 2007 should have a codes for Vizio in it. If you have a Vizio, try codes 062 and 066.

PLEASE NOTE: These codes for Vizio will ONLY WORK IF YOU HAVE A NEWER Tek Partner or Big Button remote. If you have an older remote and have just bought a Vizio, you will have to purchase a new remote to make it work on your TV.

27. Do you have a code for my Polaroid TV?

No, we currently don't have a code in our Tek Partner or Big Button Remotes for Polaroid TVs, however we expect it to be included in our next upgraded models due in mid to late 2007.

28. How do I program the Tek Pal remote?

1. Manually turn your TV set on.
2. Press and hold ON/OFF and MUTE buttons together on your Tek Pal for 3 seconds.
3. The indicator light above the ON/OFF button will remain lit.
4. Press and release CH+ (or CH-) button until TV shuts off.
5. Press MUTE button immediately after TV shuts off to complete the Tek Pal set-up.

29. How do I perform a Power Scan to find a working code?

Please Note: Many different versions of the Tek Partner and Big Button remotes have been manufactured over the past 10 years. The codes above are for the most recent version. Many of them apply to older versions of the remotes, however a few codes do change for specific devices on each of the remotes from version to version. If you've tried all the codes above for your remote and device and none seemed to work, you can follow the instructions below to do a Power Scan, which cycles through all the codes until you find one that works for your remote and device.

USING POWER SCAN (SEARCHING)

If you cannot identify a correct Device Code for your equipment from the Device Code List, you may try the POWER SCAN method.

Manually turn on the device you wish to scan for (e.g. TV)
Perform Power Scan by pressing and holding (approximately 3 seconds)the desired DEVICE MODE button TV, VCR, CBL, DVD or SAT until the status indicator light begins to blink.

Press and release the PWR (power) button. The status indicator light will stop blinking and stay ON at this point.

Press and release slowly and patiently the blue UP ( ? ) button to scan forward through the code database. To scan backward through the code database, press and release the blue DOWN ( ? ) button. Each time you press the up or down arrow, the remote will try and turn off the device (TV, VCR etc) you originally selected.

When the device (TV,VCR etc.) responds by shutting off, press the ENTER button. This will store the code
in memory and you will see three blinks of the status indicator light to confirm the code input. Be patient, there are over 100 codes to search through.

You could try one and see if it is what you need and if it is not, you can just send it back to me. Let me know what you think? If you want me to ship one just send me your address or you can call me at 630-466-7664 ext. 231. Thank you and have a nice day. Margaret

31. How many times do I press chanel button to set up Tek Pal?? I can not get it to work.

HI Mary: There are quite a few codes in the Tek Pal Remote (around 250), so you could possibly have to press and release the CH+ button up to that many times. I could be more helpful if I knew which TV that you have. If you need my help just let me know and I will give you a call. Thank you. Margaret
