I purchased this remote for my mother who is visually impaired. At best, I was hoping to find a Big Button Remote to control the Directv satelite. I was having trouble locating any remote that is compatible with the Olevia brand of TV. To my surprise (and delight) the default code of 001 operated the Olevia immediately without even having to enter the code. I was also able, through various options on the remote, to control the volume of the TV while in satelite mode as well as to turn off both the satelite and tv simultaneously. The big buttons make it easy to change the channels, especially those who have visual or dexterity difficulties. The remote works effortlessly and is very easy to operate. I bought this remote for my 78-year old Grandmother for Christmas, and she is very happy with it. The whole family was surprised at the size of this nice remote! Grandma has macular degeneration, has had several eye surgeries, and limited sight on many days. She often complained that she couldn't change the t.v. channel (satellite) because she couldn't read the buttons, and her fingers were too big to push just one button. This has made her a happy woman! (She can now change the channel when Grandpa has the remote, and she doesn't like what is on :)). The ONLY drawback I could possibly see with this is that it might be a little cumbersome for a small person to handle. I would say this remote won't get lost in the chair/couch cushions, though.
